I was a volunteer Lifeboat Press Officer for my local station for over eight years. This role offered me an opportunity to develop my writing, social media and photography skills whilst helping this worthy charity. In 2014, I handled the publicity for the arrival of the new Shannon class lifeboat – the first in the south west. Naturally, I took photos of this amazing state-of-the art lifeboat and its launching equipment and started using it in my work. I was featured in an RNLI magazine article in 2017 about artists and craftspeople helping to save lives at sea, through their work.
